T-Bar: New Steak House
Posted at 02:15:43 PM in Restaurant openings, Upper East Side restaurantsby Bottomless Dish
Oddly, the Upper East Side doesn't have very many steak houses. Now, joining the ranks of Post House and the unfortunately named Bistro Le Steak is T-Bar Steak & Lounge, a new temple of beef that's courting a decidedly less musty clientele. As you can see from the photo, the design has a playful, colorful edge that feels zip codes away from the club chair stuffiness of most steak houses. Four cuts of beef are available, including a 26-oz. T-bone, and (purists turn away now) sauces like miso mustard and mint chutney. While there's no spinach on the list of sides, potato cake with bacon and Gruyere and roasted mushroom don't sound too shabby. Prices aren't cheap, with steaks starting at $39, but there is a 25 percent discount being offered this week.

We dined there last night and the food was amazing- a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Ate here for lunch during Restaurant Week -- the food was excellent! Wonderful use of seasonings that do not overpower the food. Desserts are delicious. Portions are very generous and the Restaurant Week options are not downsized. Service was friendly and attentive.
