Corpse Reviver at Olana Wins Over My Dead Body
Posted at 12:04:48 PM in At the bar, Flatiron District restaurants, Restaurant openingsby Kathleen Squires
Dragged my tired carcass to preview Olana, the new modern American in the old Mad 28 space, at its opening party last night. The lowdown: vast cherry-wood accented space with red-shaded chandeliers and an intriguing menu with the likes of burnt orange and goose ravioli; monkfish osso buco; and rabbit stuffed with dried apricots and foie gras. The large, circular bar should attract a lively after-work crowd, especially with well-crafted cocktails like the above Corpse Reviver, a smooth mix of Lillet, Tanqueray, Cointreau, simple syrup and fresh lemon juice in an absinthe-tempered glass. It certainly came in handy to keep me awake through Richard Nelson's talky snoozefest "Conversations in Tusculum" at the Public Theater afterward.

thanks for the tip about Olana. I work accross the street. Can't wait to taste the Corpse Reviver.

This newcomer has it all: great food, superb service, nice wine list... You'll be going back for more. Start at the circular bar and finish with lunch/dinner.

Loved it! We had the very tasty lobster ravioli, flounder, rabbit and the most delectable brandied carrot cake and chocolate torte. A winner!

A great new place for an up and coming neighborhood. The room is beautiful with tables well-spaced. Really attentive and knowledgeable service. The food, especially the fish and the pastas, is phenomenal. My new favorite.

Beautiful space and top-notch, attentive service matches the fabulous food. We loved the lobster appetizer, cauliflower soup, chesnut crespelle. Seafood brodetto and monkfish ossobuco are fantastic. Highly recommended!

We ate there and LOVED it. The ambience, the service and above all the food was fantastic. The crespelle, the monkfish and the flounder were so tasty. We were full but we wanted to try the desserts. We're glad we did because they were fabulous! Especially the banana/chocolate napoleon and the carrot cake (I read best in New York and it's the best I've had!). The petit fours were the perfect last touch. We can't wait to go back!
