Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries Opening in the Village
Posted at 03:19:11 PM in Cheap eats, Restaurant openings, West Village restaurantsby Kathleen Squires
Folks at the West 55th Street branch of the Washington, D.C.-based fast-food chain have confirmed that Manhattan's second Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries will be opening its doors next Sunday, 2/17, at 296 Bleecker Street (at Seventh Avenue South, replacing the dreadful Villa Pazzo). Judging from Eater's reports of the cattle-sized crowds that flocked to the 55th Street shop in November, this may be the spot to break the curse at this Village corner, which has housed about four restaurants in as many years.
Correction: Reader "burgers" rightly points out that Five Guys is based in Virginia rather than D.C.

Good to hear - but its a VIRGINIA chain, not DC....

Good point about 5 guys being in based in Virinia. The only reason there are several stores in the District is so that people from the 703 can eat them when they are working or partying (read:vomiting) in the District. Otherwise, nobody here really eats there.
I can't believe the good people of New York have bought into this overrated place.

Five guys burgers are pretty good, I wouldn't say they are stellar.
The fries are great! I just wish they served milkshakes...

Five guys makes great burgers. Truly a great addition to NYC. Keep the menu simple and keep the high quality production up , and this will succeed.

Looking at the business in Greenwich Village , nyc, and it is inconsistent. Most likely due to pricing. Basically a cheeseburger , fries and coke costs 10.00t o 12.00 depending on size of burger. In this economy a little bit expensive. Looked up charges on a franchise, and there is no way they are making a profit. they are lucky to sell 200 to 300 burgers a day. if they are doing 300 then they are grossing 3000 a day in stores that cost 15,000 to $ 20,000 a month for rent. In addition royalty fee is 7% and advertising fee is 3%. So that is approximately an additional $ 10,000a month in cost. Anyone who is buying these franchises is not going to make money only the people selling them will make money.
