Oh, Happy Day: 2nd Ave Deli Still Delivers
Posted at 03:44:32 PM in Midtown restaurantsby Kathleen Squires
I was among scores of happy New Yorkers when the 2nd Ave Deli reopened recently. Sure, I was a little put-off by its smaller size, longer waits, and the new 33rd & 3rd location. But what I was most concerned about was: would the deli still deliver anywhere in town? They had come to my rescue many times when I was under the weather or just plain lazy and hungry. So, I'm happy to report that--yes!--delivery service, anywhere in town, is back. They still have your info in the computer; they still ask the same questions (no, I'm not Gloria Squires); they still charge the $10 delivery fee; and they still give the same gruff warning ("It'll take at least an hour, you know!"). I know. And my comforting Jewish penicillin (matzo ball soup) and juicy rare roast beef sandwich arrived in just about that time. So instead of waiting an hour in midtown, it's good to know that I can pine in the warmth of my own home for the goods. Ah, the simple, convenient pleasures of city life.

Thank Jewdness!
