Pump It Up

The whole energy drink fad is way passé.  Sometimes, the obvious (like eating for a change) can be elusive, but why not turn to food for the energy your body needs?

You can do just that at the new branch of The Pump at 275 Madison Ave. (at 40th St.), where food is prepared with the mission to make you feel good about what you're feeding yourself. Case in point: For the first time snacking on falafel didn't make me think about the crunches I'd have to do to offset indulging in fried food, because it's actually baked. In general, think light on fats and high on energy rich ingredients. The menu might be the same as that of the other five locations, but this outpost was designed with a whole new aesthetic. The vibe aims to reflect the city, and it's kind of industrial, but also inviting -- like that of the kitchen in the loft apartment you and I wish we could afford. Overall, it's an ideal place for health-conscious New Yorkers.
