After this, dirty-water hot dogs will seem like kids stuff.

The behind-the-scenes battle to protect the food vendors at the Red Hook ball fields has gotten more complicated than the plot of an Isabelle Allende novel, but one thing remains certain: the food is damn tasty! Word on the street is that October 21st is this season's last weekend, with the start of next year a big upside-down question mark. Though the food at the fields covers much of South America, there's also enough Mexican cuisine represented--quesadillas, grilled corn--that this foodie's paradise landed on our list of favorite Mexican places around the city.
