Sorry New Yorkers, the weekend looks bleak as far as fashion is concerned.  While there are the usual things to do, like hitting up our list of sales, or catching up on Ugly Betty, here are a few alternative events around town, semi-related to the world of fashion.

1. If you have blue in your wardrobe and you're ready to address the global warming issue, head down to Battery Park on Saturday as a Sea of People assemble at a rally in celebration of The National Day of Climate Action.

2. Hike over the Williamsburg bridge this weekend for brunch at Monkeytown and check out the textile art installation by Saviour Scraps which creates all its art pieces from recycled and reused fabrics.

3. Check out the Local Project in Long Island City on Friday when the Frock N' Roll exhibition opens, detailing the connection between visual arts, fashion and rock and roll.

4. In case you're in to jello and girls in bikinis, head over to Don Hills this Monday for the bar's amateur female jello wrestling contest.

5. For you fashion academia-types, look into Hofstra University's symposium, Defining Culture Through Dress, starting on Thursday.
