Fashion industry's biggest stars came out big last night to attend the Costume Institute's party of the year. Celebs like Cameron Diaz, Kirstin Dunst, Christina Ricci, and Lindsay Lohan decked the red carpet with couture dresses inspired by Paul Poiret and the style of fashion at the turn of the 20th century. Plenty of cocktail dresses and floor-length ball gowns decorated with sequins, fur and feathers climbed the steps to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Fresh flowers, printed silks and a bird cage housing three peacocks decorated the areas of the museum devoted to the party. But like any red carpet event many attendees looked smashing while others looked, not so much.

My nomination for best-dressed goes to Lucy Lui in a Zac Posen gown while Kirstin Dunst in vintage YSL looked like a mess. For more fashion successes and mishaps check out Style.com's photo coverage of the event.
