Hey! Where are you off to? A holiday work meeting.

Hopefully there'll be an open bar of some sort. Where do you work? Ahh, no open bar but free pizza from Viva Cafe, which is just as good! I work at Mavi Jeans but really want to do fashion journalism.

Awesome. Do you have any particular magazines in mind? I love Paper, Nylon and Vogue, but it would be great to start my own zine.

Tell me about your outfit? I got the jeans at Mavi, the shoes at David Z or some shop off of Broadway, the sweater from Urban Outfitters and the bag from H&M.

Where are you hanging out these days? House parties, bars and clubs. The High Voltage party at Annex is always a good time.

Good Neighbor Plays Mo Pitkin's Final Night

Hey remember when Citysearch did that great Fashion Week quiz video and that lumberjack tour of Williamsburg? Yes, you do, and you loved them.

Well now comedian/occasional Citysearch video contributor Nick Rutherford is performing with the sketch group Good Neighbor on Mo Pitkin's last night EVER before it closes down.

Nick, with fellow sketchmates Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennet, will be performing a full-length sketch show. It's going to be awesome. Did I mention it is Mo Pitkin's last night … EVER.

Adam McKay, director of Anchorman and Talladega Nights, said "What makes [Good Neighbor] work is the acting. They play it very real which makes them all the funnier in the end."

Famous people like them! Don't you want to like what famous people like? Of course you do.

What is a Berkeley girl doing in New York? Oh, I'm just revisiting. I lived in New York for years before I moved out to California for graduate school.

What are you studying at U.C. Berkeley? The African diaspora.

What are you doing tonight in celebration of the 4th? We're heading out to Union Pool to hear DJ Paula spin. She's also in this band called Moisturizer and Secretary.

I love your wrap dress! What are some of your favorite shops in New York? I love the East Village area for shopping, so I usually hit up the thrift shops like Tokyo 7, Fab 208 and Sisley.

Are there other places you hit up when you return to New York? Yeah, I love the Dumpling Man on St. Marks and the Blue Ribbon in Soho.

Beach Season!

The countdown begins, T minus 4 days before New York beaches open. Some of you will be staying in the city for the old Memorial Day standby: BBQs, rooftop parties and gin 'n juice. The rest of us may consider lunching at the fake and bake to prepare for the beach beat down. In either case having a sexy swimsuit is essential to both New Yorkers.

Consider these luscious one-piece suits for a new take on the old two-piece and peruse over our list of swim shops in New York to start the beach season. Hit up Target for Patrick Robinson's medallion one-piece suit for $29.99 or Urban Outfitters for this red-striped trendier number for $88. For ballers looking for a sleeker look, head uptown to Norma Kamali for an incredible selection of metallic foil swimsuits starting around $200. Happy shopping and don't forget your sunscreen this weekend!

Summer Shopping: Zachary's Smile

Zacharyssmileedit

While sunbathing this weekend at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival I got inspired to begin my hunt for the must-have dress and pair of vintage sunglasses for this summer. To my luck, Zachary’s Smile in Soho was my first stop. Citysearch happens to love the store (voted by editorial staff as best vintage shop in 2006) and I think summer is its best season--given the lovely array of  dresses and vintage accessories currently on display. For around 100 bucks, you can walk away with a casual cotton dress from the store's own private line or a one-of-a-kind refurbished dress from its vintage collection. The boutique also features lightweight skirts and tops, perfect for the summer heat, and be sure to check out the sale on those knee-high vintage boots every girl in town is wearing. Happy summer shopping!

My Amazing Price Is Right Shirt

PriceisrightshirtblogThis picture tells lies--I'm really so much more excited about going to the Price Is Right next week than I look. (It was early this morning, I had damp hair, leave me alone!) Just cover up the face and focus on the shirt: the amazing, specially made shirt that's going to get me behind Contestants Row.

After a little research on custom tee-ing, I chose this great little Avenue A shop, TeesDotCom, to get it made. It's a while-you-wait operation, with a solid selection of styles (ringer, solid, burn-out), colors (bold greens, faded reds, etc.) and fonts (including fuzzy and neon pink). The store had a much better selection than, say, the more touristy, less indie T-Gallery on Macdougal, which offers only red, white and black shirts and two fonts, big and little (compare the options online: here and here). TeesDotCom charges between $12 and $16 for the shirt, and then each letter costs $1. Or you can email a jpeg to the nice-n-sweet owner and she'll transfer it onto a shirt for a flat $10.

The custom tee makes a great gift--just watch out about spending more than you bargained for. The shop stocks a ton of cool tees, undies and bags that you might just end up springing for, too. Wish me luck!
