Where are you working right now?
As a correspondent for German magazines. I'm also working on my own label, Kyline.

What kind of magazines do you work for?
Art, science, fashion, design, culture.

What cool fashion-related stuff have you worked on lately?
I interviewed Cory Kennedy, but I'm more interested in art than in fashion.

What did you think of her?
She was more mature than I expected. And a funny girl. But she is 17 years old.

Tell me about your outfit.
The pullover is from a designer friend from Paris, Ben Sherman. The shoes are from a fairytale. (FG: Where are they really from?) Shoe Market in Williamsburg. I was looking all spring for green pants, and I found them in the fall, on Spring Street. The label has a horrible name, it's called Rich and Skinny or something. The scarf is from Urban Outfitters.

Where do you like to shop?
I like to wear my friend's designs; Hui Hui, from Berlin. In summer, there's a great outdoor market on Berry Street. I love Urban Outfitters, the only problem is then everyone wears the same thing you do.

The Best Snapshots of 2007

The year 2007 saw indie craft fairs, enrollment in fashion schools and "Project Runway" continue to thrive. What does this mean? More creative outfits on the streets of New York. A look back at the top "Snapshot" subjects of 2007:

Snapshot1

A double dose of style from Sabel and Reba, who bring a fiery style to their company "Rebel Casting."

Snapshot2Snapshot6

Cute dresses (don't you wish it was spring again?) with a dash of bohemian flair from Maria, from East Williamsburg, and Jamie, from the Lower East Side.

Jen from Sunnyside gives a classic look an artsy edge, while Callie just looks classic in her vintage dress.

Hey! Where are you off to? A holiday work meeting.

Hopefully there'll be an open bar of some sort. Where do you work? Ahh, no open bar but free pizza from Viva Cafe, which is just as good! I work at Mavi Jeans but really want to do fashion journalism.

Awesome. Do you have any particular magazines in mind? I love Paper, Nylon and Vogue, but it would be great to start my own zine.

Tell me about your outfit? I got the jeans at Mavi, the shoes at David Z or some shop off of Broadway, the sweater from Urban Outfitters and the bag from H&M.

Where are you hanging out these days? House parties, bars and clubs. The High Voltage party at Annex is always a good time.

Only a few people can pull off shorts in the winter. Tell me about your outfit? The shorts are Alberta Ferritti, the sweater is from Givenchy, the tights are from American Apparel, and the shoes are Dolce Vita.

What are some of your favorite shops? Anywhere that carries Thakoon, Dries Van Noten, Balenciaga and Lanvin, but for vintage jewerly j'adore the vintage shop Legacy in Soho.

Do you have any favorite NYC restaurants? The French restaurant, Le Bilboquet, is wonderful!

Hey great outfit! Did you make the dress yourself? Yes, it's a late 1920s Butterick pattern I got at Past Patterns. The shoes are from Reproduction Vintage Shoes; it's great because you get to choose your own style.

Where do you shop for your haberdashery? I go to M&J Trimming for all my trim and faux-vintage button needs and B&J Fabrics for great fabric or if I'm looking for something special and have cash to burn.

Who are some of your favorite fashion designers? I'm currently in love with Poiret and Vionnet. With silhouettes being full and fabrics sumptuous this season, I think their designs are chic and old-fashioned enough to be unusual and exotic.

Where are you hanging out these days? Nowhere Bar on 14th street is great for cheap beers and if I'm in the mood for dancing I make the trek out to Cattyshack.

Chunky knits are a hot item this season. Where did you get your sweater? I got the sweater from Charlotte Russe.

Where else do you usually shop? I got these pants from a thrift store and the turtleneck from Old Navy, but I also like shopping at Hot Topic and H&M.

Do you have any favorite hang out spots? Not many lately, but I do like concert venues and music stores like the Vintage Vinyl Record Store.

I like it when women put a creative spin on the suit. Where did you get this lovely ensemble? Banana Republic, but I mostly shop vintage and consignment.

Any favorite shops? I like Beacon's Closet, and the East Village has some great vintage shops. I just bought some really wonderful vintage dresses from the '50s and '60s there.

What is keeping you busy these days? Shopping and drinking Belgian beer.

Can you suggest any Sunnyside favorites? Yes! Gaslight has a great outdoor patio and is one of my favorites for drinking beer and PJ Horgan's seriously has the best burger!

Hiya! What are you up to? Heading downtown to F.I.T. for grad school.

Besides school, what else do you do? I work at the Brooklyn shop Bird and I'm also a part-time nanny.

Love your attire, where do you usually shop? I got this skirt at Anthropologie and these boots from Zoe in Brooklyn. Bird also carries one of my favorite labels, Circus and Company, they have the most amazing graphic prints.

In between the loaded work and school schedule, what are some of your favorite hangouts? I'm allergic to wheat so one of my favorite gluten-free places is Rissotteria, and for drinks the Black Mountain Wine Bar.

Spotted: 85th Street and Fifth Avenue

Hey, nice day out, eh? I love this school girl thing you got going on. Thanks, I got this blazer from my old job as an assistant designer at At Last Sportswear. It was a sample from the junior line. I don't think it ever went into production. The skirt I got from a clothing swap circa 1998 from my friend Kitty in Richmond, Virgina and the shoes I got from Target.

Nice variety of places. Do you have any favorite shops in Brooklyn? My all-time favorite shop was a shoe store on 7th Avenue near Union Street in Prospect Park. It was a great source for cute vegan shoes but they closed about two weeks ago. I'm still in mourning.

Any favorite hangouts? My neighborhood, my couch with my kitties and La Taqueria. I could eat the vegetarian fajita burrito everyday. Tea lounge is also a great place.

What are you into these days? Fashion, hobbies? I love Oscar de la Renta's craftsmanship and the conceptual pieces from Victor & Rolf. I'm currently feeling inspired by 18th century menswear and 19th century childrenswear . . . it's what I'm studying in grad school, but it's stirring design ideas more than anything academic.
