Update: Stereo Closed, But Owners Say They're Not Buying Canal Room

Earlier today we reported that we had received information from two different sources claiming that the now-shuttered Chelsea club Stereo had plans to takeover Canal Room. As we said at the time, we did not have confirmation from the owners of either club, but had received tips from two different (unnamed) people who are themselves New York bar-owners, and whose information we treated as precisely what it was: an unverified tip.
We have since heard directly from the owners of both Stereo and Canal Room, and both deny that the former is taking over the latter. In an email, Stereo's owner Michael Satsky told us:
AS PAGE 6 reported last week, we were reopened by NYC and the landlord bought us out of our extension because our lease has been expired since the end of August, and the street has been re-zoned for residential. I will be opening a club soon with my partner Brian only. The name and whereabouts will be released soon. It will not be near Canal Room.
And there you have it.
Well thank heaven for that! whew!

Michael Satsky and brian gefter were never owners of Stereo. They were hired as promotional directors. They had no investment , no equity, no shares, they only posed as the owners. I have all paperwork proving who the real onwership is.

The only thing Satsky seems to be able to do is pay publicists to get his name into Page 6. He has the WORST reputation in the NYC nightlife industry (quite a feat) and people in the know have been snickering about his desperate search for a new space for months now. NO ONE wants to partner with him because of his well earned reputation as a two-bit cheat and BS artist. He has NO money to build or buy his own space, so he's been trolling for suckers that might either fund him or let him "manage" their own failed spaces. That's basically what he did at the old Coral Room which became Stereo. The real owners of Stereo/Coral Room want NOTHING to do with him or his partners because they were frauds. What a Joke. these guys were running around the hamptons last summer promoting the lame space that was tavern (the place where the bathrooms overflow into the club). they were so fabulous with the "Stereo" beach house, and promises of celebrity's helicoptering in for the weekend. by the end of the summer they were promting bachelorette parties and come with ten dudes and get a free bottle of (supposedly) goose.
Hey big shots how about running a club for a few years before you proclaim how fabulous you are? these guys are good at one thing HYPE!

Both Satsky and Brian Geftner, his so called partner, are deadbeats..they owe a lot of people in the city money and they keep moving and changing their club names to try to fool vendors into giving them credit..count me as one fool...anyone who has ever done business with these deadbeats should pass the word....give them credit and lose your money..please help spread the word!!!!
